A Full Circle Moment: Amarélia × ACS Athens
Some collaborations carry a meaning that goes far beyond the work itself. For me, creating a jewelry series for ACS Athens, a school that was such an important part of my own story, is one of them.
I graduated from ACS Athens in 1995, and returning now as the founder and designer of Amarélia Jewelry to reinterpret the school’s identity through jewelry feels both deeply personal and a true honor.
At the heart of the collaboration is the ACS Athens owl, a symbol of wisdom, knowledge and curiosity. From it, two distinct collections emerged: Athenia and Noesis.
Athenia
Inspired directly by the ACS Athens owl logo, Athenia reflects heritage, identity and belonging. The emblem is reimagined in refined signet rings and a bracelet, transforming a familiar symbol into something personal and enduring.
Its name draws from the spirit of Athens - the birthplace of wisdom, learning and philosophical thought - honoring both the school’s Hellenic roots and the lasting connections we carry with us long after our school years.
Noesis
Noesis offers a softer, more contemporary interpretation of the owl. Minimal and expressive, the pieces were created with a younger generation in mind while retaining the meaning behind this enduring symbol.
Derived from the ancient Greek concept of inner understanding and intellectual insight, Noesis reflects knowledge as something personal - the curiosity, growth and individuality that develop through education and experience.
A Lasting Connection
The collection is crafted in silver and gold-plated silver, with pieces also available in solid 14k gold, offering different ways to wear and keep a connection to ACS Athens.
Most importantly, proceeds from the collaboration support the ACS Athens Alumni Fund, helping future generations of students access the transformative power of an ACS Athens education. This gives the collection an even deeper meaning: celebrating the experiences and memories of those who have been part of ACS while helping create opportunities for those who will follow.
More than 30 years after my own graduation, returning to ACS through Amarélia feels like a very special full-circle moment. I hope these pieces will become lasting reminders of the friendships, memories and sense of belonging that connect generations of the ACS Athens community.
